This is indeed only part 1 (of how many, I am unsure at the moment, possibly 3). It turns out, I can't choose to save my life. In the end, I do love many Brazilian artists and I want to show you guys the widest range possible of quality music. There's a bit of pop, a bit of rock, a bit of MPB, a bit of music I really can't classify. *grins* There will be some Bossa Nova too, come next parts of the recs.
I used zshare links for the individual songs, so you guys can listen to them first (and download later, if you so wish ;), and mediafire links for the albums (as it's one of the few sites I think everyone can download from). If anyone become curious about the lyrics, just ask me and I'll translate them to you. Some of them are really very pretty. :D
o1. Not chosen because it's the best, but because it's a peculiar enough group that their songs are almost all in English. Perhaps they might be known to some of you, as I hear they are a bit famous outside of the country. They style is a mix of electro-rock and pop, and they're called Cansei de Ser Sexy (Tired of Being Sexy/ wiki).
They have fun named songs like Meeting Paris Hilton and Music is my hot sex. Their lyrics aren't exactly poetic, and they sure have a potty mouth, but it's a different sound. Give it a try!

♦ download their (first and only, so far) self-named album, Cansei de Ser Sexy
o2. One of Brazil's most talented song-writer was Renato Russo. He had a successful solo career (singing in Italian too, even), but his three-member band Legião Urbana (Urban Legion/ wiki) is famous even now, after his death. They played songs that spoke of the country's reality at the same time they sang of relationships.
Their style is that of a 80/90s rock band, and they have many acclaimed songs, like Perfeição (Perfection), A Canção do Senhor da Guerra (The Warlord's Song) and Que País é Este? (What's up wth this Country?). [My personal favorite is Metal Contra as Nuvens (Metal Against the Clouds), a 11 minute song.] This band is until today very much loved and admired by all, and many new bands start their careers doing covers of their songs.
(Similar artists: Capital Inicial, Titãs, Paralamas do Sucesso.)

o3. In a position of being a female vocalist singing hardcore/alternative rock songs, Pitty (wiki) comes from Bahia, a state which didn't really back up her up in her wishes to sing those type of songs. She's done well though, after moving to São Paulo, and her unique accent doesn't take away from her talent.
Her second studio album reached Platinum status, and her songs Na Sua Estante (In your Bookshelf) and Memórias (Memories) have been well played in the radios.

♦ download Pitty's first album, Admirável Chip Novo (Brave New Chip)
o4. Most of the music I listen to never fits only one style, Jota Quest (wiki) though, they are pure pop, of the best possible kind. At first called merely J.Quest (name taken from the old cartoon), their songs can be upbeat and fun, the type you lock yourself in your bedroom to dance to without anyone knowing, or more calm, soulful songs, with simple and touching lyrics. Some of them are, Oxigênio (Oxygen) and Fácil (Easy).
(Similar artists: Skank, Pato Fu, Barão Vermelho.)

♦ download Jota Quest's MTV Live album
o5. The last spot is filled with not one, but four amazing female singers. They're not a group, but I found a compilation of some of their works, and since they sing mostly MPB, it fits. Adriana Calcanhoto (wiki), Ana Carolina (wiki), Cássia Eller (wiki) and Marisa Monte (wiki) - each with their own very successful careers. A few of their songs would be, Adriana Calcanhoto's Esquadros (Squares), Ana Carolina's Homens e Mulheres (Men and Women), Cássia Eller's Malandragem (Trickery) and Marisa Monte's Segue o Seco (Follow the Barren)
[I couldn't find an image for this album. ): Sorry!]

I hope you guys enjoyed this! (Please let me know if you did! *beams*) And I have to say, though I think many won't, searching through the material I have and looking for these artists on the internet rekindled my passion for Brazilian music. I think this was a good idea. ♥
Oh, and I'm leaving the post public because if you guys want to point this page to anyone else, you're free to do so. ;3
